Zaiane rugs have very distinctive diamond shapes in the design. They come from Southern Middle Atlas (Near Olmes - also where my favorite fizzy water comes from!) and according to most, the Zaiane tribe is no longer producing rugs, making these amazing works of embroidery more and more rare...
The colors and detailed embroidery of this rug blow me away... The maroon is sooo rich. Our guess is that this rug is close to 30 years old and it's still in beautiful shape.
Like most authentic Moroccan rugs, this rug only has tassels on one side because of the way they are handmade* on the looms.
